About The Team 🤝
The Finance team at Empathy ensures smooth financial operations while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. They handle payroll, benefits, and all related People Ops financial processes to support both employees and the business, driving accuracy, consistency, and efficiency across all operations.
Your Role & Responsibilities 🎯
Payroll, Tax & Benefits 📊
- Serve as the subject matter expert on payroll, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, labor codes, and company policies.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of personal income tax legislation, social benefits, and employment laws to ensure accuracy and compliance in payroll and benefits processes.
- Perform audits on employee expenses, benefits costs, and payroll balance sheet accounts.
- Manage year-end payroll reporting and ensure proper taxation of employer-paid benefits.
- Participate in projects and support testing for system enhancements or new implementations related to payroll and benefits.
Finance Operations 🏢
- Oversee daily finance operations related to people processes, including payroll administration and benefits management.
- Ensure adherence to company finance policies, promoting consistency and compliance.
- Support the U.S. monthly close process and Budget vs. Actual (BVA) reporting, providing accurate financial insights and reconciliation.
- Maintain compliance with payroll tax regulations, labor codes, and relevant financial policies.
- Manage travel operations, ensuring efficient handling of employee travel expenses and reimbursements.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation solutions to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
Collaboration & Communication 🤝
- Work closely with HR and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of payroll and benefits strategies.
- Collaborate with sales leadership, business operations, and other departments to align processes and goals.
- Provide expert guidance on payroll and benefits, ensuring clarity and understanding for employees.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to continually improve finance operations.
Qualifications & Skills ✔️
- 4+ years of experience in finance operations, payroll, or related fields.
- Expertise in payroll processing, tax regulations, and benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. personal income tax laws, labor codes, and social benefits.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency with payroll systems and financial software; Hebrew skills are a strong advantage.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Compensation & Benefits 💼
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000, depending on skills, qualifications, and location.
