  • Salary Range: $11.00 - $15.00/hour based on experience and qualifications 💵
  • FLSA Status: Hourly - Full-time
  • Position Type: Non-exempt
  • Language Requirements: Bilingual in English and another language (Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Farsi, etc.)

Job Summary 🚑

The Patient Services Aide is responsible for interpreting spoken and written communication between patients and staff, assisting with patient registration, and supporting medical records management. You will facilitate smooth patient flow and ensure accurate language translation to enhance patient care delivery.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients: Register patients and verify eligibility
  • Check-in/check-out: Manage patient flow using electronic medical records
  • Interpretation: Convert spoken and written materials, ensuring accuracy and clarity
  • Translate materials: Patient handouts, prescriptions, educational content, appointment info
  • Utilize resources: Use dictionaries and collaborate with bilingual staff when needed
  • Provide clinical support: Interpret during triage, provider visits, lab, and other clinic areas
  • Read aloud: Documents in non-native languages
  • Schedule support: Assist with appointment scheduling and rescheduling
  • Team collaboration: Support Front Desk, Call Center, and Eligibility teams
  • Communicate lab results: Relay information as requested
  • Community engagement: Participate in clinic and community events
  • Other duties: Perform additional tasks to support HOPE Clinic’s mission, vision, and values

Qualifications & Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • No prior interpretation experience required; healthcare experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork mentality
  • Willing to assist across all departments with translation
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 ✅

Educational Background

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Interpreter certification is a plus!

Skills & Abilities

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Burmese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, or similar
  • Excellent language skills in speaking, reading, and writing
  • Good transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s License
