Winston is currently offering a 13-week contractual assignment for a bilingual Russian/English speaking Patient Registrar at a reputable Medical Group in Brooklyn. This role operates from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of clerical experience within a primary care or multispecialty medical office, a strong customer service orientation, and familiarity with health insurance benefits and requirements.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Greeting & Registration: Welcome patients in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Data Entry: Obtain and accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into the computer system.
- Pre-Registration & Verification: Pre-register patients online and verify insurance details such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Blue Cross within the billing system.
- Appointment Scheduling: Manage and maintain daily patient appointments based on resource availability.
- Clinic Setup: Prepare the clinic for efficient appointment flow, including retrieving and organizing medical records.
- Chart Management: Request, review, and manage patient charts, ensuring necessary test results are included.
- Test & Lab Data Retrieval: Obtain laboratory and radiographic data from the system and labs.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule patient exams and procedures, coordinating with internal departments and referring offices.
- Requisitions & Billing: Request physician requisitions, assign billing codes, and process third-party billings accurately and timely.
- Documentation & Authorizations: Prepare necessary paperwork, verify eligibility, and obtain required authorizations.
- Financial Communication: Notify patients of financial obligations, set up payment plans, and assist with Medicaid eligibility and charity care inquiries.
- Payment Collection: Collect co-payments, issue receipts, and maintain financial records.
- Reporting & Data Management: Assist in compiling statistics and updating records with accuracy.
💡 Required Skills & Qualifications
- Language Skills: Fluency in Russian and English is mandatory; additional languages are a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Medical Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT codes, and billing procedures.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with HIPAA standards and health information management protocols.
- Customer Service & Communication: Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette.
- Organization & Multitasking: Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry.
- Insurance & Billing Expertise: Knowledge of insurance verification processes and Medicare guidelines.
💰 Compensation & Work Details
Hourly Rate: $24.00 - $26.00
