Job Summary 📝
The Patient Care Advocate serves as a vital link between patients, the community, and healthcare professionals. This role ensures seamless access to care, improves patient retention, and enhances overall patient experience by fostering strong relationships with various stakeholders including insurance providers, healthcare teams, and community organizations.
Key Responsibilities 🌟
- Onboard new patients and introduce them to the clinic team (VIP Tour)
- Schedule and facilitate initial appointments
- Collaborate with the Clinic Administrator to greet patients during their first visit
- Promote wellness events and activities
- Guide patients in navigating healthcare services and removing social or medical barriers
- Maintain marketing materials and office supplies
- Assist patients with understanding insurance coverage, Medicare, and benefits
- Support patient participation in organizational initiatives and reputation building
- Conduct outbound calls, answer patient inquiries, and manage social media content within marketing guidelines
- Document and resolve patient complaints
- Coordinate attendance and resources for Wellness Center activities
- Engage in community outreach and educational activities, respecting cultural and linguistic diversity
- Promote self-care and behavioral changes among patients
- Execute retention strategies, including survey campaigns for disenrolled patients
- Assist in data collection, reporting, and program evaluation
- Contribute to patient experience and loyalty initiatives, supporting continuous improvement
- Participate in community engagement and membership growth efforts, such as “Refer a Friend” campaigns

Qualifications & Skills 🎓
- High School diploma or equivalent; 3+ years’ experience in healthcare, social services, counseling, sales, medical billing, or insurance processing
- Clinical experience is a bonus
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
- Bilingual in Vietnamese and English is highly preferred
- Strong community engagement and cultural competency, particularly within the Vietnamese community in St. Pete
- Excellent organizational, listening, and communication skills
- Solid understanding of the healthcare system’s complexities
- Empathetic, compassionate, and able to provide emotional support
- Professional demeanor with cultural sensitivity towards all racial and ethnic groups
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changes
- Proficient in computer use and recordkeeping
