Position Overview

We are seeking a thoughtful, engaging, and student-centered Part-Time French Teacher to begin in September 2026. The position involves teaching two sections of French, with levels determined by student enrollment and program needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong language proficiency, a love of French and Francophone cultures, and a commitment to helping students grow as speakers, readers, writers, and listeners.

As an educator committed to both rigor and encouragement, you will value the importance of relationships in adolescent learning and enjoy contributing to a close-knit school community where teachers know their students well.

Responsibilities

  • Teach two sections of French, with course levels adapted to student needs.
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons to develop proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Integrate French and Francophone cultures into the curriculum in meaningful ways.
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages risk-taking, curiosity, and active participation.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain open communication with students, families, advisors, and colleagues regarding student progress.
  • Collaborate with the language department and participate in related departmental activities.
  • Support Falmouth Academy’s mission and positively contribute to school life.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Advanced proficiency in French.
  • Experience teaching French at middle and/or high school levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in French, education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Familiarity with proficiency-based language instruction and current best practices.
  • Ability to create inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environments.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A genuine interest in working with adolescents within a small, relational school setting.
