Position Overview 🎯
We are seeking a thoughtful, engaging, and student-centered part-time French teacher starting in September 2026. The ideal candidate will possess strong language proficiency, a passion for French and Francophone cultures, and the ability to foster confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
The successful candidate values rigor coupled with encouragement, recognizes the importance of relationships in adolescent learning, and is eager to contribute to our close-knit school community where teachers truly know their students.
Responsibilities 📝
- Teach two sections of French, with course levels based on enrollment and program needs.
- Design and deliver lessons that enhance proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Integrate French and Francophone cultures into the curriculum in meaningful ways.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes risk-taking, curiosity, and active participation.
- Assess student progress regularly and offer clear, constructive feedback.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, advisors, and colleagues regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the language department and participate in departmental activities.
- Support Falmouth Academy’s mission and contribute make a positive impact on school life.
Qualifications 🎓
- Advanced proficiency in French.
- Experience teaching French at middle and/or high school levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in French, education, or related field; master's preferred.
- Familiarity with proficiency-based language instruction and current best practices in world language teaching.
- Ability to create inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environments.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Genuine interest in working with adolescents within a small school community.
