Part-time Bilingual Community Service Aide

FLSA Status

Location & Schedule

The Community Service Aide provides services primarily in Montgomery County, MD, during part-time hours, including days and evenings, Monday through Friday. Some evenings may be required to meet with families or students.

General Summary

The role involves coordinating services, events, and activities for a school-based mental health and social services program in collaboration with elementary and middle schools and the county’s Department of Health and Human Services. The aim is to promote mental, emotional wellness, and self-sufficiency among students and families throughout the Gaithersburg and Germantown regions.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

Community Outreach

  • 🗓️ Plans and coordinates outreach/prevention programs and emotional wellness services for parents and families.
  • 🧠 Organizes psycho-educational and emotional support groups with the school team’s assistance.
  • 🎉 Supports and implements special events for the team.
  • 🎙️ Provides public speaking engagements.
  • 🔗 Offers information and referral services.
  • 🤝 Assists families in accessing community resources to foster self-sufficiency, working alongside family care managers.

Collaborative Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with therapists, care managers, school staff, and community partners to ensure comprehensive care delivery.

Administrative Duties

  • 🖥️ Manages office operations, including maintaining equipment and supplies.
  • 📊 Tracks client assistance and flex funds budgets for the site team.
  • 🙋‍♂️ Trains and supervises volunteers.
  • 🧾 Orients new staff to site procedures.
  • 📋 Monitors attendance at activities.
  • 🤝 Attends regular supervision, staff meetings, and agency trainings, including monthly CSA and CSC meetings, retreats, and collaborative events.
  • 🗓️ Staffs at least one outreach booth shift per year during weekends.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Work experience in a related field is required.
  • Fluency in both written and verbal English and Spanish is essential.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Desire to work with diverse families and professionals.
  • Experience with collaborative school-based service models is preferred.
  • Knowledge of immigrant populations, acculturation issues, and community resources in Montgomery County is advantageous.
