Department of World Languages & Cultures 🗣️🌎
Our department offers dynamic opportunities to immerse in 13 languages, regional cultural studies, and intercultural competence. We prepare students for success in a globalized world through innovative teaching and cutting-edge research.
Our Commitments 🤝
- Develop linguistic and cultural proficiency in second or third languages for professional use.
- Promote interdisciplinary scholarship in language education, cultural studies, linguistics, translation, and film.

Academic Offerings 🎓
We offer two nationally recognized B.A. programs:
- Modern Language and Culture — with tracks in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Spanish, including concentrations in Second Language & Culture, Teacher Certification, Applied Business, and Cross-disciplinary Perspectives.
- Asian Studies — exploring the interactions between traditional and transforming Asian cultures.
Additionally, students can engage in various minors and our Critical Languages Program for further cultural and linguistic enrichment.

Part-Time & Limited Term Faculty Positions in World Languages & Cultures (2025-2026)
We are inviting applications to join our faculty pool for various semesters. Positions are on an as-needed basis, with rank and responsibilities aligned with credentials. Work will be performed in Georgia.
Responsibilities 📚
- Teaching undergraduate courses in languages such as American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and World Language Education.
Assignments depend on your earned degrees and adherence to SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications ✅
- A Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in the specific discipline or closely related field at the time of hire.
- OR a Master's degree in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.
Preferred Qualifications 🌟
- Native or near-native fluency in target languages.
- Prior teaching experience in world languages and cultures.
- Experience teaching online or hybrid courses.
