Paraeducator II - Bilingual (Dari/Farsi) - 6 hrs/day (ELS/PC#253682)

Position Overview

Assist teachers with one-on-one or small group tutoring and provide direct care, supervision, and support to children in regular and/or special education settings where bilingual/bi-literate skills are essential. Responsibilities include maintaining and preparing classroom materials, keeping records, and supporting instructional activities to reinforce learning for individuals or small groups of students.

  • Salary: $19.79 - $26.19 per hour in 9 annual steps, based on relevant experience
  • Location: English Learners Services Department (Current site: Woodridge)
  • Hours: 6 hours/day; 5 days/week
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Employee Life Insurance (full district contribution for 6+ hours/day; 50% for 4-5.99 hours/day)

Educational & Experience Requirements

The role requires:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with students in classroom or similar settings
  • Successful completion of a competency exam leading to certification
  • Knowledge of and competency in a second language (Dari or Farsi and English)

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license (may be required)
  • Approved competency examination
  • Valid First Aid/CPR card (may be required)

Required Documentation

  • NCLB Compliance: 48 college units (semester) or pass the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam
  • Proof of high school graduation: Diploma, transcripts, or GED
  • Resume: Clearly demonstrating relevant experience
