About the Role
Our service-oriented clinical staff are integral to delivering high-quality patient care. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you'll work closely with our physician and senior tech daily to ensure patients receive accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and skilled in refraction, with a proactive approach to supporting our team and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients and prepare charts for the physician
- Perform clinical tests including refractions, lensometry, applanation tonometry, and muscle testing
- Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment
- Conduct patient interviews to gather detailed medical histories
- Assist physicians with surgeries and procedures as needed
- Deliver excellent patient care and customer service
- Review and update forms, policies, and procedures
- Follow practice guidelines and contribute to process improvement initiatives
- Manage administrative tasks such as answering calls, scheduling, insurance verification, etc.
Required Skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Effective communication skills
- Organization and attention to detail
- Customer service orientation
- Computer proficiency with iPad, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous ophthalmology experience
- Proficiency in refraction
- Knowledge of patient work-up procedures including vision testing, IOP, autorefraction, lensometry, fundus photography, OCT, topography, and biometry
- Experience with EHR systems (ModMed preferred)
- Comfort with technology such as computers, mobile devices, and printers
- Fluent in Vietnamese (strongly preferred)
