About the Role
The American Red Cross is seeking a Multicultural Communications Specialist with a focus on Spanish language services to support translation, quality assurance, and volunteer linguist management across the organization. This fully remote position allows you to work from anywhere in the United States, ideally during East Coast hours.

What You Need to Know
The ideal candidate will support Spanish language translation and communication efforts, ensuring linguistic and cultural quality of material, and collaborating with volunteer services. The role involves:
- Translating Spanish-language content across operational, programmatic, and communication materials
- Performing machine translation post-editing (MTPE) to uphold quality standards
- Proofreading and reviewing translations for accuracy, tone, and style consistency
- Conducting linguistic quality assurance (LQA) with constructive feedback
- Developing and maintaining style guides, glossaries, and linguistic standards
- Supporting basic desktop publishing (DTP) tasks in collaboration with graphic designers
- Partnering with the Multicultural Communications Manager to ensure quality and workflow efficiency
- Managing volunteer linguists, including evaluation, onboarding, training, and continuous improvement activities

Qualifications & Requirements ✅🎯
Educational & Experience Essentials
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in translation, linguistics, or language studies)
- At least 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in translation, linguistics, research, cultural competence, technical skills, and domain knowledge
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- American Translators Association (ATA) certification in English to Spanish
- Experience in volunteer services, recruitment, or multicultural outreach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
- Familiarity with community engagement initiatives
Skills & Competencies
Additional requirements include the potential need for security clearance, fluency in a second language, and teamwork capability. The combination of education and experience should meet or exceed the minimum years specified.
Compensation & Benefits 💰🎁
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000. Exact figures will be discussed during the screening process based on your location and qualifications. The organization aligns salaries to geographic cost-of-living considerations.
