Job Title: Italian + Spanish and Exploratory World Language Teacher

📝 About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic individual to teach Italian (grades 7 and 8), 7th grade Spanish, and an exploratory course that introduces 6th graders to Spanish, French, and Italian. Your role will be pivotal in fostering students' love for languages, cultural awareness, and cognitive development through engaging instruction and innovative teaching methods.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments tailored to diverse student needs in Italian and Spanish.
• Teach Italian and Spanish language skills, emphasizing speaking, listening, reading, and writing, through a UDL (Universal Design for Learning) approach utilizing various techniques.
• Create engaging, interactive classrooms that promote language acquisition and cultural awareness.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment encouraging active participation, student-centered learning, and collaboration.
• Utilize technology and educational tools effectively to enhance language instruction.
• Assess student progress regularly through assignments, tests, projects, and oral evaluations, providing timely feedback to students and families.
• Identify individual student needs and adapt teaching strategies accordingly to support their language growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in language instruction.
• Engage in parent-teacher conferences and school events to support student success and community engagement.
• Promote respect, understanding, and appreciation for cultural diversity within the classroom.
• Work collaboratively with staff and administrators to enhance the educational environment.

🎓 Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Italian, Spanish, Education, or a related field.
• Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Education in Italian and Spanish (waivers/emergency licenses for Spanish may be considered).
• Fluency in Italian and Spanish — including native or near-native proficiency.
