The Atlantic Council is looking for a creative, motivated, and diligent individual to support our dynamic organizational activities in a fast-paced environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for emerging professionals interested in international relations and regional security.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in administration, communications, and event logistics. As a Young Global Professional, you will actively engage with our events, publications, and strategic initiatives. The position offers exposure to the writing, editing, and publication process, along with logistical planning and strategic development within a renowned think tank. You are encouraged to pursue your own research projects, and to author policy briefs or blog posts.

Who We're Looking For

  • At least a college junior, graduate student, or recent graduate in good standing
  • Studying international relations, politics, foreign policy, or related fields
  • Strong interest in the Middle East and North Africa, peace-building, regional security, and regional development
  • Passionate, entrepreneurial, and collegial with excellent communication skills

Location & Compensation

This position is fully on-site at our headquarters in Washington, DC. Interns will be paid $18.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing program events, roundtables, and webinars
  • Draft formal correspondence with government officials and stakeholders, including invitations
  • Prepare supporting documents such as speaker memos, participant lists, and agendas for public events
  • Take notes and photographs at roundtables and strategy sessions for archives
  • Write event recaps for publication on our website
  • Support staffing of in-person events, meetings, and roundtables
  • Assist the communications team in promoting publications, events, and media mentions
  • Draft social media content for X, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Create newsletters and email marketing content
  • Monitor and compile media mentions and press coverage
  • Handle administrative tasks, including updating contacts, managing files and platforms, and supporting business development research
  • Participate in weekly, biweekly, and monthly organizational meetings
  • Conduct research to support the Center’s activities and develop personal research and writing projects

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of a college junior, graduate student, or recent graduate in good academic standing
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management abilities
  • Experience with event planning and logistics is preferred
  • Experience with social media campaigns, website maintenance, and email marketing is a bonus
  • Experience living, studying, or working in the Middle East or North Africa is a plus
  • Proficiency in regional languages such as Arabic, Persian, French, Kurdish, or Hebrew is advantageous
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) strongly preferred
