Seattle Children's Hospital Is Hiring A Medical Interpreter I

Join Our Team as a Bilingual Medical Interpreter (Mandarin and Cantonese) 🌐

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Interpreter proficient in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English to provide accurate spoken language interpretation services, ensuring linguistically appropriate care within our healthcare facilities. This part-time position offers benefits and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate spoken language interpretation services in person or via other modalities as assigned.
  • Utilize advanced proficiency in English and the target language(s).
  • Apply knowledge of medical vocabulary to facilitate effective communication and appropriate care.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese, as well as English.
  • Minimum of two (2) years interpreting experience in a medical or healthcare setting.
  • Current knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.

Credentials

  • Certified Medical Interpreter by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), or an equivalent state or national certification such as:
    • Commission for Health Care Interpreters (CCHI)
    • National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least two (2) years of interpreting experience in a medical setting.
  • Experience with simultaneous interpretation and/or sight translation.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology.

Compensation & Benefits 💰

Hourly rate: $29.16 - $43.73

Note: This range is based on full-time employment (2080 hours/year). Actual offers depend on skills, experience, and other factors and may vary for positions outside of Seattle.
