📢 Join Our Team as a Medical Assistant! Exciting opportunity at 7th Avenue Brooklyn, requiring bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, and/or Mandarin to provide essential patient support and care.
🩺 Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to perform supportive services for healthcare providers and nursing staff in an ambulatory care setting. The successful candidate will work onsite 5 days a week, including every Sunday from 9am to 5pm, adhering to our policies and procedures.
🔍 Job Responsibilities
- 🤝 Demonstrate awareness and respect for coworkers' and patients' cultural backgrounds.
- 🧪 Complete all laboratory ancillary testing and specialty referral forms related to services.
- 🚶♂️ Transport and accompany patients as needed.
- ⚠️ Observe and alert nursing staff of patients requiring urgent care.
- 🖥️ Retrieve laboratory and ancillary test results from the computer or reference laboratory.
- 📝 Complete patient forms such as WIC.
- ✔️ Check for completeness of encounter forms and prescriptions.
- 📏 Obtain vital signs, including height, weight, head, and chest circumference when needed.
- 📈 Plot growth charts for pediatric patients.
- 🩹 Perform simple dressings.
- 🌐 Provide translation services as required.
- 📦 Coordinate module/site supply requests.
- 🎥 Perform EKG audiovisual testing and hook up/remove Holter monitors.
- 💉 Perform venous phlebotomy.
- ⚕️ Respond appropriately to patient emergencies such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure.
- 📝 Document data collected and care provided accurately.
- 💖 Demonstrate a supportive and sensitive attitude towards patients and their families.
- 🧼 Maintain orderly service areas, treatment, exam, and utility rooms.
- 📚 Reinforce health education with patients and families.
- 🗂️ Assist with clerical duties specific to the assigned area.
- 🔄 Work in different FHC departments as assigned, based on site leadership requests and network needs.
- 📝 Attend staff meetings and review/sign meeting minutes if not attended.
- 🎓 Maintain competence through ongoing in-service and educational programs.
🎓 Minimum Qualifications
- ✔️ High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- ✔️ Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- ✔️ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association, required at hire and maintained thereafter.
✨ Preferred Qualifications
- 🕑 1-2 years of ambulatory care experience preferred.
- 🗣️ Ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels.
