Position: Medical Assistant – Bilingual Required (Spanish and/or Cantonese and/or Mandarin)

Location: 7th Avenue Brooklyn

This role supports healthcare providers and nursing staff in ambulatory care by performing various clinical and administrative tasks. Onsite presence is required five days a week, including Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm.

Job Responsibilities

• 🌎 Show awareness and respect for coworkers’ and patients’ cultural backgrounds.
• 🧪 Complete laboratory testing and specialty referral forms.
• 🚶‍♂️ Transport and accompany patients as needed.
• ⚠️ Monitor patients and alert nursing staff of urgent care needs.
• 💻 Retrieve laboratory and ancillary test results from the computer or contact reference labs.
• 📝 Complete patient forms such as WIC.
• ✅ Check encounter forms and prescriptions for completeness.
• 🌡️ Obtain vital signs, height, weight, head, and chest circumference.
• 📈 Plot growth charts for pediatric patients.
• 🩹 Perform simple dressings.
• 🌐 Provide translation services as needed.
• 📦 Coordinate supply requests for the module/site.
• 🎥 Perform EKG audiovisual testing.
• 🎧 Hook up and remove Holter monitors.
• 💉 Perform venous phlebotomy.
• 🚨 Respond appropriately to patient emergencies such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure.
• 📝 Document data collected and care provided.
• 🤝 Maintain a supportive attitude towards patients, families, and colleagues.
• 🧹 Keep service areas clean and organized.
• 📚 Reinforce health education to patients and families.
• 🗂 Assist with clerical duties specific to the unit.
• 🔄 Flexibility to work in other FHC departments as assigned, based on network needs.
• 📝 Attend staff meetings and stay current through in-service and educational programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification via the American Heart Association (must be maintained)

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of ambulatory care experience (preferred)
• Effective communication skills across all organizational levels

Salary Range

Annual Salary: $49,580.89
