Position Summary

As a Medical Assistant at our Brooklyn location on 7th Avenue, you will perform supportive services for healthcare providers and nursing staff in ambulatory care settings. This role requires onsite presence five days a week, including Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Respect and demonstrate awareness of coworkers’ and patients’ cultural backgrounds 🤝
• Complete laboratory tests and specialty referral forms
• Transport and accompany patients as needed 🚶‍♀️
• Monitor patients and alert nursing staff to urgent care needs 🚨
• Retrieve laboratory and ancillary test results
• Complete patient forms (e.g., WIC)
• Verify encounter forms and prescriptions for completeness
• Measure vital signs, height, weight, and head/chest circumference
• Plot growth charts for pediatric patients
• Perform simple dressings
• Provide translation services as needed 🌐
• Coordinate supply requests for modules/sites
• Perform EKG audiovisual testing and Holter monitor setups/removals
• Perform venous phlebotomy 🩸
• Respond appropriately to emergencies such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure
• Document all patient data and care provided 📝
• Maintain a supportive attitude toward patients and families
• Keep treatment and exam areas orderly
• Reinforce health education to patients and families
• Assist with clerical tasks relevant to the department
• Be flexible to work in other FHC departments as directed
• Participate in staff meetings and continuing education

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (must be maintained)

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of ambulatory care experience
• Effective communication skills across all organization levels

Salary Range: $49,580.89 – $49,580.89 annually (dependent on experience, education, and network needs). This range does not include bonuses or incentives. 💸
