CAMERA is excited to announce an opening for a U.S. Media Analyst position, ideally based in Boston or Jerusalem, aimed at strengthening our media monitoring and engagement efforts related to Israel, the Middle East, and antisemitism. 🔍

About the Role

As a Media Analyst, you will play a vital role in tracking media narratives, analyzing coverage accuracy, and engaging with various stakeholders to promote fair and truthful representation of Israel and related issues. The position reports directly to the Director of Media Research and Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring media outlets: Track various American media sources for accuracy and context regarding Israel, the Arab-Israel conflict, Zionism, and antisemitism.
  • Following breaking news: Maintain up-to-date awareness of emerging news developments.
  • Media research: Verify the accuracy of reports using diverse sources and research tools.
  • Communication: Engage with journalists, academics, NGOs, government officials, and specialists to gather facts or challenge misinformation.
  • Content creation: Write articles, Op-Eds, blog posts, and speeches.
  • Community engagement: Deliver lectures to community and campus groups.
  • Collaboration: Work with CAMERA staff across language programs (Spanish, Hebrew, Arabic) and other departments.
  • Public inquiries: Respond to requests and concerns regarding media coverage of Israel and antisemitism.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Passion for CAMERA's mission: Dedicated to exposing and correcting media bias and misinformation against Israel and Jewish communities.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of the history of Israel and the Middle East.
  • Journalistic skills: Familiarity with journalistic practices and research tools.
  • Analytical writing: Strong ability to craft clear, compelling analyses.
  • Interpersonal skills: Effective communication with media personnel, staff, and the public.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel occasionally for lectures and meetings.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with PPT and other presentation formats is a plus.
