Video Interpreter Responsibilities

• Provide effective video remote interpreting services for consumers, with occasional audio calls.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined by AMN Language Services.
• Maintain professional behavior, including regular attendance, punctuality, preparedness, respectful interaction, and accurate record keeping.
• Quickly adapt to new and evolving technologies.
• Complete platform training and pass the internal readiness check before handling live calls.
• Participate in ongoing quality assurance and call monitoring programs.

Required Qualifications

• Fluent in both source and target languages with strong verbal communication skills.
• Successful completion of a medical language proficiency assessment focused on interpreter protocols and medical terminology.
• Respect and understanding of LEP clients, including their culture, dialects, beliefs, and care preferences.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional US-based medical interpreting experience.
• National interpreting certifications such as CCHI or CMI.
• Degrees or certifications in interpreting practices.
• Completion of accredited medical interpreting courses (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour courses).
• Extensive knowledge of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• Familiarity with medical privacy laws (HIPAA) and other applicable federal and state laws.

Home Office Requirements 🏡

• A private room with full-length (floor-to-ceiling) walls and a lockable door.
• Hardwired high-speed internet connection.
• This role must be performed from a private, company-approved workspace—not from public or travel settings.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Use of on-ear headset for the entire shift.
• Ability to operate a webcam for interactions in medical scenarios.
• Visual acuity for close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, along with focus adjustment.
• Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.
• Basic physical activities including walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, stooping, talking, and hearing.

Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the USA.

Job Type: Part-time (fixed schedule between 20-28 hours per week).

Pay Scale: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour* (rate may vary based on experience, training, education, and location).
