Program Overview

The Division of Behavioral Health Services in Hammonton, New Jersey, is looking for a dedicated Mandarin Interpreter to provide in-person interpretation support. This includes assisting with patient treatment programs, medical appointments, assessments, and more, focusing on effective communication in clinical settings.

Roles & Responsibilities <😊>

• Provide interpretations for customer service inquiries in Mandarin, translating from English to Mandarin and vice versa.
• Be available within the agreed timeframe to respond to inquiries outside standard schedules.
• Participate in on-call scheduling and provide over-the-phone interpretation as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of all interpretations, safeguarding sensitive Personal Health Information (PHI) & Personally Identifiable Information (PII), in compliance with federal privacy standards such as HIPAA and the Privacy Act.

Minimum Qualifications <📝>

• This is a part-time position with morning hours, a lunch break, and then afternoon hours.
• Willingness to commute to Hammonton, NJ (note: mileage is not reimbursed).
• Must possess medical translation certification and provide a copy of the certificate.
• Native-level fluency in both Mandarin and English.
• Extensive vocabulary, ranging from formal language to colloquialisms and slang.
• Must be willing to undergo background checks, fingerprinting, and a physical examination.
• Willing to adhere to CDC guidelines and medical protocols, including mask-wearing, temperature checks, flu vaccinations, and weekly COVID-19 testing.
