Job Functions

• Provide effective video and audio interpreting sessions in a professional manner, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• Capture company-provided data during interpreting sessions as required.
• Adapt quickly to new technology and evolving interpreting tools.
• Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural guidelines specific to each context.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and contribute to a respectful, diverse environment.
• Respect LEP clients' cultures, dialects, beliefs, and preferences.
• Maintain a strong passion for customer service and interpreting roles.
• Maintain professionalism throughout every video and audio session.
• Speak clearly in both languages, ensuring proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Render accurate concepts according to interpreter protocols, ensuring clear communication.

Qualifications

• Fluent in both source and target languages — Mandarin, Cantonese to English and vice versa.
• Strong listening, retention, and note-taking skills to ensure interpretation accuracy.
• Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or holding a national certification.
• In-depth knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• HIPAA-compliant work environment and settings.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to read and write fluently in the required languages.
• Degrees or certifications in interpreting practices.
• National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS.
• Completion of accredited medical interpreting training courses such as ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, or 40-hour accredited medical courses.
