Mandarin & Cantonese Video Remote Interpreter (VRI) 🎥🌐

Join our team as a Mandarin and Cantonese Medical VRI interpreter to provide on-demand audio and video interpreting services for diverse industries, supporting our Limited English Proficient (LEP) community and professionals across healthcare, government, education, and more.

Job Functions

• Deliver professional interpreting sessions: Conduct effective video and audio interpretation ensuring clarity and professionalism.
• Data capture: Record required data during interpreting sessions as per company guidelines.
• Technology adaptation: Quickly adapt to new and evolving interpreting technologies.
• Adherence to standards: Follow interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements based on the context.
• Cultural sensitivity: Exhibit commitment to cultural awareness and work within diverse environments.
• Client respect: Respect and understand LEP clients’ cultures, dialects, beliefs, and preferences.
• Customer service focus: Maintain a strong passion for quality customer service and interpretation.
• Professional demeanor: Uphold professionalism throughout each session.

Qualifications

• Bilingual proficiency: Fluent in Mandarin & Cantonese and English, with strong verbal communication skills.
• Listening & note-taking skills: Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking abilities for accuracy.
• Certification: Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or hold a recognized national certification.
• Ethics & standards: Knowledge of IMIA, NBCMI, and NCIHC ethical standards and practices.
• HIPAA compliance: Comfortable working in a HIPAA-compliant environment.
• Age requirement: Minimum age of 18 years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Language literacy: Ability to read and write in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.
• Interpreting credentials: Degree or certifications in interpretation practices.
• Medical certification: National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS.
• Training courses: Completion of accredited medical interpreting training (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, etc.).

Technical Requirements 💻📶

• Internet connectivity: High-speed internet, preferably cable or fiber optic.
• Workspace setup: HIPAA-compliant with a private, locked room with four walls and a door.
• Computer connection: Direct connection to the modem required.
• Background: Home workspace must have a blue or green backdrop.
• Environment: Quiet, distraction-free environment free from pets, outside noise, and interruptions.
