Mandarin Cantonese Video Remote Interpreter (VRI) 🎥🗣️

Join our team as a Mandarin Cantonese Medical VRI interpreter, providing vital on-demand audio and video interpretation services to support our limited English proficient (LEP) community across various industries such as Healthcare, Government, Community, and Education.

Job Functions

• Provide professional interpretation sessions: Deliver effective video and audio interpreting with professionalism and clarity.
• Data capture: Record company-provided data during interpretation sessions when required.
• Technology adaptation: Quickly adapt to new and evolving interpreting technologies.
• Adhere to standards: Follow interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements relevant to the interpreting context.
• Promote cultural sensitivity: Demonstrate commitment to cultural awareness and work effectively in diverse environments.
• Respect LEP clients: Show understanding and respect for our LEP clients' cultures, dialects, beliefs, and preferences.
• Customer service & passion: Exhibit enthusiasm for customer service and interpreting excellence.
• Maintain professionalism: Keep a professional demeanor throughout all sessions.
• Clear communication: Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and politeness.
• Accurate rendering: Convey exact concepts and meanings, following interpreter protocols.

Qualifications

• Language proficiency: Fluent in both source and target languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, and English) with strong verbal skills.
• Listening & retention: Excellent listening, note-taking, and retention skills to ensure high accuracy.
• Certification: Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or holding a recognized national certification.
• Ethical standards knowledge: Deep understanding of IMIA, NBCMI, and NCIHC ethics and standards of practice.
• HIPAA compliance: Ability to work in a HIPAA-compliant environment.
• Age requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

• Language literacy: Ability to read and write in the required languages.
• Education & certifications: Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
• Medical certification: National Medical Interpreter Certification (CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS).
• Training courses: Completion of accredited medical interpreting courses such as ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, or cross-cultural training (40-hour courses).

Technical Requirements

• Internet: High-speed internet connection; cable or fiber optic preferred.
• Workspace: HIPAA-compliant workspace with 4 walls and a lockable door.
• Computer setup: Direct connection to the modem.
• Background: Blue or green backdrop in the home office.
• Environment: Quiet, distraction-free workspace away from people, pets, and outside noise.
