Mandarin Cantonese Video Remote Interpreter (VRI) 🌐

Join our team as a Mandarin Cantonese Medical VRI interpreter to deliver vital on-demand audio and video translation services, supporting our diverse LEP (Limited English Proficient) community across healthcare, government, community, and education sectors.

Job Functions

• Provide professional video and audio interpreting sessions in a courteous and effective manner.
• Capture company-provided data during interpreting sessions when required.
• Adapt quickly to new and evolving technologies with flexibility and confidence.
• Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements tailored to the interpreting context.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and thrive in diverse environments.
• Respect and understand the cultural, dialectal, and personal beliefs of our LEP clients.
• Maintain a strong customer service focus with enthusiasm for interpreting services.
• Maintain professionalism throughout all video and audio interactions.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and respectful expressions.
• Accurately render concepts and meanings following interpreter protocols.

Qualifications

• Fluent in both languages with strong verbal communication skills in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills ensuring high accuracy during interpretation.
• Completion of a proficiency assessment or possession of a recognized national certification.
• Knowledge of ethical standards and practice codes (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• HIPAA compliant work environment required.
• Minimum age of 18 years.

Preferred Qualifications 🎓

• Ability to read and write in the required languages.
• Degrees or certifications in interpreting practices.
• National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS.
• Completed accredited medical interpreting training courses such as ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, or Cross-Cultural training.

Technical Requirements 💻

• High-speed internet, with cable or fiber optic services preferred.
• HIPAA-compliant workspace enclosed with four walls and a locking door.
• Computer connected directly to the modem.
• Home office setup must include a blue or green backdrop.
• Quiet, distraction-free environment free from people, pets, or external noise.
