Mandarin & Cantonese Video Remote Interpreter (VRI) 🎥🌐

Join our team as a Mandarin or Cantonese Medical VRI interpreter to assist our Limited English Proficient (LEP) community across various sectors with on-demand audio and video interpreting services.

Job Functions 📝

• Provide professional interpreting sessions via video and audio formats.
• Capture company-provided data during interpreting sessions when required.
• Adapt quickly to new and evolving technologies.
• Follow interpreter ethical standards and procedural guidelines relevant to the context.
• Show a commitment to cultural sensitivity in a diverse working environment.
• Respect and understand our LEP clients, including their cultural background, dialects, beliefs, and preferences.
• Exhibit a strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting.
• Maintain professionalism throughout all video and audio sessions.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Accurately render meanings and concepts following interpreter protocol.

Qualifications 🎓

• Fluent in: Mandarin and Cantonese, with strong verbal skills in both directions to English.
• Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking skills to ensure accuracy.
• Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or holding a national certification.
• Knowledge of ethics and standards of practice (e.g., IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• HIPAA-compliant environment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred Qualifications 🌟

• Ability to read and write in the requested languages.
• Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
• National Medical Interpreter Certification from CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS.
• Completion of an accredited medical interpreting training course (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural Training, 40-hour courses).
