Job Functions

• Conduct professional interpreting sessions: Provide effective video and audio interpreting in a courteous manner.
• Data capture: Record company-provided data during interpreting sessions when necessary.
• Technology adaptation: Quickly adapt to new and evolving technologies.
• Adhere to standards: Follow interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements unique to each context.
• Cultural sensitivity: Demonstrate a commitment to respecting and understanding diverse cultures, dialects, and client preferences.
• Client-focused service: Show passion for excellent customer service and accurate interpretation.
• Maintain professionalism: Keep a professional demeanor throughout all video and audio interactions.

Qualifications

• Bilingual proficiency: Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English with strong verbal communication skills.
• Listening and retention skills: Excellent note-taking and listening abilities to ensure high accuracy.
• Assessment and certification: Completion of a proficiency assessment or hold a national certification.
• Knowledge of ethics: Extensive understanding of IMIA, NBCMI, and NCIHC standards.
• HIPAA compliance: Ability to operate within a HIPAA-compliant environment.
• Age requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

• Language literacy: Ability to read and write in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.
• Educational background: Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
• Certification: National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS.
• Training courses: Completion of accredited medical interpreting courses such as ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, or Cross-Cultural Training.
