We are Hiring: Mandarin and/or Cantonese Interpreters in Cleveland, OH

Vocalink Global specializes in translation, interpretation, and cultural adaptation, enabling brands to communicate effectively across cultures. Our interpreting services are vital in connecting organizations with Limited English Speaking, d/Deaf, or hard of hearing clients and patients.

Minimum Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in English and a second language (Mandarin and/or Cantonese)
• Successful completion of drug screening
• Successful background check
• High school diploma or higher; Associates Degree or higher required for ASL
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• Reliable transportation
• Access to computer, cell phone, and stable internet connection
• Excellent references
• Previous professional interpretation experience (medical, legal, education, etc.)
• Documented education in anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, legal proceedings, and industry-specific practices
• Complete and submit required medical documentation:
  • MMRs (Measles/Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) – show immunity
  • Varicella – proof of immunity or disease history
  • Hepatitis B – vaccination or titers
  • Seasonal Flu Shot (between 8/1 and 10/31 during flu season)
  • TB Testing:
    • Negative Skin Test or Blood Test (within 12 months)
    • Positive Skin Test (any date) or negative Chest X-ray (within 12 months)
  • History of BCG vaccination

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous interpretation experience in medical, legal, education, or specialty areas
• National Certification

Responsibilities & Duties

• Perform consecutive interpretation—paraphrasing is not permitted
• Provide on-site and/or remote audio/video interpretation across medical, social service, government, and business sectors. Travel to appointments is required.
• Render complete, accurate interpretations or sight translations, preserving the original message's meaning and intent without addition or omission
• Continuously improve interpreting skills through ongoing training or education
• Maintain a professional and tidy appearance
• Adhere to data reporting standards, including timesheet submissions
• Medical interpreters must comply with healthcare standards regarding testing, immunity, and vaccinations
