About the Role 🎯
We are seeking a Manager, Commercial Consulting to join our Life Sciences and Healthcare Commercial Consulting team in Tokyo. This role involves engaging in consulting projects, conducting data analysis, research, and providing strategic insights to clients. Our team comprises 20 talented members across the APAC region. About You – Experience, Education, Skills & Achievements
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience
- Technical Skills: Proficient with MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Languages: Fluent in both English and Japanese, written and verbal

Key Responsibilities 🔑
- Lead and mentor a team of consultants, focusing on their professional development
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery
- Provide leadership and guidance, promoting growth and high standards
- Act as the primary contact for clients, addressing concerns and managing expectations
- Support business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and opportunity identification
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and decision-making
- Oversee project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation
- Represent the team in customer discussions and organizational decisions
- Drive team performance by setting objectives, providing feedback, and ensuring alignment with goals
- Recruit, train, and supervise consultants, fostering their development
- Review team work to meet operational targets and contribute to immediate results
- Establish and communicate team goals, and develop performance metrics
- Explain policies and procedures to stakeholders inside and outside the team
- Deliver ongoing training and developmental feedback to colleagues
- Provide input on staffing decisions based on team needs and performance

Clarivate’s Life Sciences & Healthcare Consulting Services leverages expertise and data to support clients in achieving strategic goals, fostering innovation, and improving patient outcomes. From bioinformatics to market access and pharmacovigilance, we provide end-to-end solutions to help clients develop and launch new products, making a meaningful impact.
Our Commercial Consulting Services unit offers advisory and management consulting to leading and emerging pharmaceutical, biotech, and MedTech firms. We combine domain expertise with data-driven insights to deliver tailored, actionable recommendations on areas like Product Strategy, Transaction Advisory, Business Development, and Licensing.
Hours & Work Environment ⏰
- This is a full-time position in Tokyo, primarily during core Japan business hours, with flexibility for global time zones
- Position is hybrid — working in-office up to 2 days a week
Relocation sponsorship is available if you're outside Japan.
Compensation (US-Only) 💰
The expected annual base salary ranges from $11,250,000 to $16,250,000 JPY. The role is also eligible for bonuses, with individual pay based on experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors.
