Kennedy International School Is Hiring A Lower School Monitor

Kennedy International School offers a bilingual, comprehensive education from preschool through 12th grade, emphasizing faculty strength, diversity, and cultural richness. We are currently seeking a dedicated French & English Bilingual Monitor (Lower School) to enhance our team and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for our young learners.

Position Overview

As a Monitor, you will be a vital presence on the Lower School campus, primarily engaging with students, teachers, staff, and administrators. Your role is crucial in maintaining safety, fostering positive behavior, and supporting the school's operations during lunch and recess hours. This is a part-time position, with work hours from Monday to Friday, approximately 10:30 AM – 2:45 PM, with potential extension to 5:00 PM depending on afterschool schedules. The start date is January 2026

Responsibilities

  • Support staff member during lunch and recess, ensuring smooth management of student activities
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing traffic to safeguard student well-being and uphold safety standards
  • Coordinate efficient movement of students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess, including hallway management
  • Create a positive environment by maintaining clean, welcoming, and informative lunch and recess areas
  • Enforce school-wide rules to promote positive behavior and smooth operations
  • Oversee health, safety, and behavior in indoor and outdoor settings throughout the year
  • Communicate proactively with faculty and staff to ensure seamless school operations
  • Perform general support tasks and other related duties as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Fluent in both French and English
  • At least one year of experience monitoring students, managing lunch and recess routines, or relevant school work experience
  • Strong work ethic and ability to effectively collaborate with students, staff, and administrators
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with a knack for engaging primary school students
  • Calm demeanor, reliable, and capable of maintaining professionalism under pressure
  • Passion for supporting student growth and a dedication to an innovative educational environment
  • Demonstrated growth mindset and a genuine joy in serving families and students
  • Background check clearance is required prior to employment

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly rate for this role is $24.68. Benefits include:
