Position Overview 📝

The French Program Manager (Lower School) reports to the Lower School Director and oversees all aspects of the French program from Nursery through Grade 5. This leadership role involves curriculum development, teacher supervision, student assessments, and program coordination—all while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.

The ideal candidate will typically hold a Certificat d’Aptitude aux Fonctions de Formateur (CAFIPEFM) and serve as the direct supervisor for French teachers and French-speaking teacher assistants.

Key Responsibilities 🎯

1. Curriculum Development & Implementation 📚

  • Design, refine, and implement a comprehensive French language curriculum for lower school students.
  • Align curriculum with academic standards and language acquisition goals.

2. Teacher Support & Professional Development 🌱

  • Supervise, mentor, and support French teachers and teacher assistants.
  • Organize and facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions.
  • Oversee performance evaluations for French staff annually.

3. Student Learning & Assessment 🎓

  • Monitor student progress and assess language acquisition.
  • Implement differentiated strategies to support diverse learners.
  • Conduct language proficiency evaluations for prospective students.

4. Program Coordination & Administration 🗂️

  • Coordinate French-related academic projects and initiatives.
  • Manage instructional materials and resources.
  • Lead hiring and interview processes for French teaching staff.
  • Serve as a substitute teacher during planned and unplanned absences.

5. Compliance & Accreditation ✅

  • Ensure alignment with the French Ministry of Education’s accreditation standards.
  • Act as liaison with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) and other educational organizations.

Qualifications & Skills 🎓🔑

  • Native or heritage proficiency in French, with strong knowledge of instruction methodologies.
  • Certificat d’Aptitude aux Fonctions de Formateur (CAFIPEFM).
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership.
  • Proven ability in teacher supervision and support.
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes and educational standards.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
