Position Summary
This role involves proactively sensing, analyzing, and mitigating operational risks in inbound logistics and freight forwarding. It serves as an early-warning hub, continuously monitoring logistics conditions and maintaining communication with steamship lines (SSLs), truckers, terminals, ports, and logistics vendors to prevent disruptions. The position provides critical risk intelligence, market insights, and operational updates to support informed decision-making for international and domestic freight operations. 🚚🌎
Responsibilities
- Identify, monitor, and assess risks such as port congestion, vessel delays, labor activities, terminal constraints, equipment availability, carrier performance issues, weather disruptions, and compliance impacts.
- Maintain proactive communication with SSLs, truckers, terminals, ports, and logistics vendors for real-time operational intelligence.
- Analyze cargo flow conditions to anticipate delays and service disruptions.
- Prepare weekly risk and market intelligence reports highlighting emerging risks, causes, and mitigation strategies.
- Provide timely alerts and updates on high-risk or time-sensitive events.
- Analyze data trends to identify recurring issues and areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with internal teams — operations, planning, customer service, leadership — to develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Support customers with regular market updates and transparent logistics insights.
- Mentor team members by sharing best practices in risk management and operational response.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding, transportation, or logistics operations
- Strong understanding of international transportation, especially ocean freight and inbound logistics
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; High School GED required
- Ability to assess operational risks quickly and respond effectively to disruptions
- Experience working with carriers, terminals, truckers, and logistics vendors
- Strong prioritization and multitasking skills in fast-paced environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables), PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels
- Experience with TMS and WMS systems preferred
- Bilingual in English and Korean
