About the Role

As a Localisation Associate, you will manage the end-to-end translation process for Business and IT products from English into Japanese. Your work will include translating official books, exams, and training materials, ensuring high-quality, consistent outputs.

Collaborating closely with the Localisation Lead, Project Managers, freelancers, and internal teams, you'll ensure seamless project execution and serve as the main contact for feedback and issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage translation projects: Create, oversee, and implement projects within XTM TMS, meeting deadlines, sticking to budgets, and maintaining quality standards in partnership with the Enterprise Project Manager.
• Leverage AI tools: Identify and apply AI technologies (e.g., machine translation, language models) to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and uphold high standards.
• Content translation & quality control: Translate various content types from English into Japanese, performing editing, proofreading, and quality checks to ensure cultural relevance, accuracy, and technical precision.
• Maintain translation assets: Align files, update translation memories, and prepare files to optimize content reuse and resource efficiency.
• Manage external partners: Source, onboard, and coordinate with translators, Language Service Providers (LSPs), and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Provide clear briefs to ensure understanding of project scopes and expectations.
• Ensure quality standards: Conduct detailed reviews and quality assurance checks, collaborating with the Localisation Lead to uphold PeopleCert’s standards.
• Facilitate communication: Act as the central point for feedback, proactively resolving issues and escalating when necessary.
• Handle administrative tasks: Manage files, generate reports, and communicate with suppliers, ensuring smooth workflows within internal teams.

What We’re Looking For

• Language proficiency: Native or equivalent fluency in Japanese and English. (Certifications like LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL are a plus.)
• Experience: Background in an LSP environment or translation function managing English-Japanese localization projects, with a preference for candidates familiar with the professional education sector.
• Academic background: Degree in Translation Studies or related fields is advantageous.
• Project management skills: Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to time and budget constraints while collaborating cross-functionally.
• Technical skills: Proficient in CAT tools, Machine Translation, TMS (experience with XTM is preferred), and handling various file formats (MS Office, InDesign, etc.).
• Certifications: ECDL Advanced certification is desirable.
• Soft skills: Excellent communication, organization, and prioritization abilities. Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
