Job Description

CAT III Linguists will deliver interpretation and translation services to support military and intelligence operations. Responsibilities include:

• Providing foreign language support, including transcription and interpretation in support of military interrogations, intelligence collection, and operational missions.
• Offering cultural and ethnic context for translations, interpretations, and transcriptions, providing expert opinions on nuanced language interpretations.
• Performing document exploitation, scanning, research, and analysis of foreign language documents and intercepted data for key information.
• Supplementing interpretations with pertinent information from professional fields such as medicine, science, engineering, legal, etc.
• Identifying and extracting information that meets military information requirements and contributing to reports.

Qualifications

• Language Proficiency: Working proficiency in Spanish is required. Native proficiency preferred but not mandatory.
• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in interpretation/translation.
• Language Level: ILR level 3 in both Spanish and English.
• Skills:
  • Document exploitation skills.
  • In-depth geopolitical knowledge.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to interpret colloquial, slang, and idiomatic expressions.
  • Proficiency in consecutively translating and transcribing ongoing conversations and activities.
• Security Clearance: Active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance, able to pass polygraph and CI Focus Interview.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Understanding of various dialects, radio broadcasts, news, technical reports, and public addresses.
  • Ability to provide cultural and ethnic context, offering insights and guidance.

Security Requirements

• Must hold an ACTIVE TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.
• Must pass a polygraph and CI Focus Interview.
• U.S. Citizenship is required in accordance with federal regulations.
