Silicon Valley International School (INTL) is seeking a passionate and innovative French Librarian to lead the enhancement of our library spaces and foster a love of reading, inquiry, and research among students across our campuses.
Position Overview
The French Librarian will play a crucial role in transforming our Media Hub at the Elementary School and the library at the Upper School & Early Years campus into vibrant, engaging environments that serve as the heart of the school community. This role focuses on inspiring students to explore, connect, and enjoy their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities
🔄 Transformative Leadership
- Lead the revitalization of the Media Hub and Upper School Library, creating warm, inviting spaces that encourage student participation and exploration.
- Foster a culture of engagement where students see the library as a place to connect with peers and deepen their love for learning.
🎨 Innovative Program Development
- Design and execute exciting activities and events such as book clubs, arts & crafts, and themed reading sessions during recess and after school.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate library activities with classroom lessons, ensuring relevance and enthusiasm.
📚 Dynamic Collection Development
- Curate bilingual resources (Chinese/English, French/English, German/English) aligning with curriculum and student interests.
- Regularly assess and enrich the collection to keep it engaging, diverse, and reflective of various perspectives.
🌟 Promotion of Literacy and Learning
- Implement initiatives that cultivate a love for reading through interactive challenges, author visits, and community events.
- Support students individually in book selection and research projects, fostering accessibility and enthusiasm.
🤝 Community-Centric Engagement
- Increase library visibility and support within the school community.
- Organize community events such as Author Visits, Book Fairs, and Parent Education sessions in the Media Hub.
💻 Technology Integration & Future-Readiness
- Incorporate digital tools and resources to enhance learning and research experiences.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in library science and education to innovate practices that prepare students for the future.
📝 Lead Researcher
- Assist students throughout their research processes, utilizing both physical and digital resources, including local library systems.
- Contribute to faculty research on pedagogy and content.
- Develop and implement the school's Research and Media Literacy curriculum in collaboration with IB Coordinators.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Fluent in English and either French, with excellent communication skills in both languages.
- Proven experience in library or educational settings, demonstrating leadership and management skills.
- Strong understanding of the IB curriculum and a passion for promoting literacy and research skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and parents, fostering a sense of community.
- Enthusiasm for creating welcoming spaces that inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Compensation & Benefits 💼🎉
Our comprehensive package for the 2026-2027 school year includes:
- Salary range: $83,403 (BA Step 3) to $126,672 (PhD Step 23) based on education and experience.
