University of Virginia Is Hiring A Lecturer
The University of Virginia is seeking a passionate Lecturer in Japanese to join the Department of East Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, starting in August 2024.
Position Overview
Department: East Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
Start Date: August 10, 2024
This is a full-time, non-tenure track position with potential for continued employment after an initial three-year appointment.
Qualifications 🎓
- Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English
- At least a Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience teaching students at all levels (highly preferred)
- Knowledge of current language teaching methodologies and effective use of educational technologies
- A strong commitment to department service
Responsibilities ✍️
- Teach three courses per semester
- Contribute to the development of the Japanese program both on campus and abroad
- Engage actively in departmental service and student life
