The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking a passionate and skilled Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor in Japanese Language to join their dynamic Department of World Languages and Cultures starting Fall 2024. 📚
Position Overview
The department invites applications for a full-time position, either as a Lecturer (or Teaching Assistant Professor without tenure) in Japanese language. The appointment will initially be for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Japanese-language pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, or a related field required by the time of appointment for a Lecturer.
- Doctoral degree required for a Teaching Assistant Professor position.
- Proven excellence in teaching Japanese to non-native speakers at the college level.
- Familiarity with current language pedagogy and technological tools for language learning.
- Preference for candidates demonstrating native or near-native proficiency in both Japanese and English.
- Experience serving as a coordinator for lower-division Japanese courses is a plus.
Teaching Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate Japanese courses at all levels (12 hours per semester), utilizing various modes of instruction such as in-person and online classrooms. Collaboration with Japanese Program faculty is also expected.
