Join Our Team as a World Language Teacher (French) 🇫🇷

We are seeking a dedicated French Teacher passionate about helping students achieve their full potential through engaging language instruction.

Position Details

  • Position: World Language Teacher (French)
  • Job/FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt
  • Reports to: Principal and/or Designee

Position Summary

To assist students in maximizing the benefits of the educational opportunities provided within our schools, fostering a love for language learning and cultural understanding.

Role Qualifications 🎓

  • Hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS)
  • PEL/ELS must be endorsed in the area(s) to be taught
  • Preferred: Endorsement in Bilingual Education

Position Responsibilities 📋

  • Stay current with innovative ideas and teaching methods to enhance instruction
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times
  • Follow the District's policies and procedures
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide reports as required
  • Collaborate with school personnel to identify and support students with specialized needs
  • Take necessary precautions to ensure safety for students, equipment, and facilities
  • Maintain accurate records compliant with laws and policies
  • Participate in staff meetings and committees as permitted
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials such as books and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building administration

  • Create a positive and conducive learning environment
  • Prepare thoroughly for classes, demonstrating readiness upon request
  • Guide students toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives, and communicating progress to students and parents
  • Employ best practices emphasizing student engagement and cooperative learning
  • Support the District's educational philosophy through effective instruction
  • Utilize diverse instructional techniques, media, and technology suited to student needs and physical settings
  • Proactively communicate with parents and respond professionally to concerns
  • Establish and uphold clear behavioral expectations
  • Maintain professionalism when managing classroom behavior and disruptions
  • Apply appropriate behavioral strategies to support student conduct
  • Assist administration in enforcing policies related to student life and conduct

Reporting Structure

Position is standalone; there are no direct reports.

Physical Demands

  • Occasional standing, walking, sitting, and hand/finger dexterity
  • Ability to reach, talk, hear, and perform job-related visual tasks
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with focus adjustment

Work Environment

  • Moderate noise levels typical of school environments

Terms of Employment 📝

  • Ten-month work year (180 days)
  • Starting salary ranges from $59,158 to $97,829, based on education and experience
  • Participation in Teachers Retirement System of Illinois (TRS)
  • 55-minute duty-free lunch (40 minutes every Wednesday)
  • 10 sick days and 5 personal days for new hires
  • Comprehensive fringe benefits per the AFT/IFT Local 683 Agreement
  • Performance evaluations aligned with district and union criteria
