Position Overview 📝

We are actively hiring a Kurdish (Sorani) with Arabic Linguist (US Citizenship required) to join our team in Reston, VA. This role involves 100% travel across the United States and internationally, supporting US Government missions through document translation and interpretation.

You will be responsible for translating documents into English, providing consecutive interpretation, and handling a variety of language-related tasks in diverse environments, including warzones and remote locations.

Responsibilities 🎯

• Perform a variety of language-related activities such as triage, gisting, and transcription of audio/video materials.
• Apply knowledge of Kurdish (Sorani) and Arabic cultural contexts to accurately render abstract language, idioms, and nuances.
• Previous experience with US Government and/or military linguistics is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Maintain a willingness to travel worldwide, including to warzones and remote settings, at any time to support US Government operations.

Required Education & Experience 🎓

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• BA/BS Degree strongly preferred.
• Proficiency at ILR Level 3 or equivalent in translation, speaking, and listening skills, indicating "professional performance."
• Excellent target language (Kurdish/Sorani and Arabic) and English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel at least 40% of the year to locations worldwide, including warzones.

• Capability to provide and receive constructive feedback on translation reviews.
• Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute in English and target language.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to qualify with weapons to meet warzone requirements.
• Medically fit to travel extensively.
• Flexibility to travel "anywhere, anytime" based on mission needs.
• Cultural knowledge and awareness of current events relevant to the area of expertise.
• Passing the English language test with a score of 75% or higher.
• Current US passport required.
