Role Overview

Are you passionate about supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)? As a DSP in our Meaningful Day Services team, you will facilitate community-based activities, skill development, and social connections that reflect participants' interests, goals, and cultural backgrounds. Your Korean language skills will be essential in ensuring participants and their families feel understood, respected, and supported. 🤝

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Advocacy & Empowerment: Advocate for individuals supported and empower them to pursue their personal goals and dreams.
  • Employment Support: Assist in finding meaningful employment, developing job readiness skills, interview techniques, resume writing, and related activities.
  • Community Involvement: Support participants in making choices, engaging with neighbors, participating in community events, places of worship, and maintaining social contacts with friends and family.
  • Mentoring & Guidance: Teach, guide, and assist with accessing community resources, including riding public transportation.
  • Activity Facilitation: Organize and support volunteering, recreational activities, employment exploration, and cultural engagement.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate fluently in Korean and English with participants, families, and team members.
  • Promoting Dignity: Foster choice, self-advocacy, and dignity in all services.
  • Documentation & Safety: Keep detailed records of activities and progress, and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; functional reading and writing skills
  • Fluency in Korean and conversational English (required)
  • Previous experience helping people with disabilities preferred (training provided)
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and own reliable vehicle for transportation
  • Ability to pass background checks
  • CPR/First Aid and Medication Technician certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

Physical Demands

Candidates must be able to stand, walk, sit, hear, and talk. They should be capable of occasionally lifting and moving up to 50 pounds. 💪

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $24/hr
