Leidos Is Hiring A Korean Language Instructor

Leidos is seeking a dedicated and skilled Korean Language Instructor to support a high-priority government mission. This full-time, in-person position combines teaching, language assessment, and cultural immersion to develop language proficiency in adult learners.

Key Responsibilities 👍

  • Provide 3–5 hours of daily language instruction across proficiency levels ILR 0–3.
  • Create customized instructional materials and training aids tailored to individual learning objectives.
  • Undergo sponsor-provided training to become a certified language tester.
  • Conduct 3–4 weekly language proficiency assessments following certification.
  • Teach through cultural immersion, leveraging an understanding of language culture and current events.
  • Collaborate with senior instructors to maintain high instructional standards and curriculum quality.

Minimum Qualifications 🎓

  • Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. institution or the country where the target language is spoken. Additional experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Either:
    • 3+ years of direct adult teaching experience, or
    • 8–12 years of relevant experience, or
    • Master’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in developing instructional materials tailored for adults.
  • Familiarity with ILR Scale and current cultural developments in the target language.

Language Testing Requirements ✍️

  • Pass a Leidos-administered or approved commercial translation test (3 hours).
  • Minimum passing scores:
    • English test: 90% or higher
    • Translation Test: 4 or higher
    • Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI): 5/5/5 (Speaking/Listening/Reading)

Security Clearance 🔒

  • No clearance required to apply.
  • Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, which Leidos will sponsor after passing all language assessments.
  • Clearance must be fully adjudicated before starting work.
