About the Mission

Approximately 2 million Korean residents live in the United States, with over 1 million foreign workers in Korea. Despite high incidences of wrongful termination, wage theft, and workplace harassment in both regions, language and cultural barriers often prevent affected individuals from seeking justice.

Haven Rights is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Texas supporting Korean workers in the US. IKLPA is a Korea-based sister organization and a global tech platform expanding our shared mission worldwide.

These two organizations operate under a hybrid model combining non-profit trust-building with a for-profit tech platform that generates revenue through Freemium and subscription options, B2B HR solutions, and CSR corporate funding. This sustainable model aligns social impact with business value.

The Opportunity

In this emerging market, few serious tech players are involved. Our current initiatives include:

• Support from Korean government startup programs 🇰🇷
• Pipeline of federal and state grants (DOL, EEOC, Texas Workforce Commission) 💼
• B2B HR partnerships and corporate CSR funding 🤝

Substantial funding will enable a transition to full-time work and market-rate compensation.

The Role

Founding Engineer — Be Part of Building Something From Scratch

• Enhance a Next.js 14-based web platform (currently deployed on Vercel, integrated with Supabase, Stripe, OpenAI, PortOne)
• Develop AI chatbot and Case Intelligence Engine (CIE) 🤖
• Design and manage database architecture
• Participate in overall technical decision-making

Who We're Looking For

• Strong full-stack development experience (Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase/PostgreSQL preferred)
• Experience with or eagerness to learn LLM / RAG-based systems
• Enjoyment of ambiguity and building from 0 to 1 🚧
• Sincere alignment with social mission
• Clear communication and ownership mindset

Compensation & Path Forward

Transparency on Our Process

Phase 1 (Months 1–3): Founding Advisor Engagement

Initial three months involve a Founding Advisor Agreement without cash compensation, allowing mutual assessment of fit and working style. As with all startups, the focus now is on people and mission over capital.

Phase 2 (Starting Month 3): Equity Grant

If both sides agree to continue, up to 10% equity (vesting conditions) will be granted based on contributions during Phase 1, documented via a formal Advisor or Founder Agreement after legal review.

Phase 3: Funded Stage

Once external funding or government grants are secured, full-time work and market-rate salary will commence.

This is a risk-reward structure; we seek individuals who understand and embrace it fully.
