About the Position
Located within the Hudson Vicinage, this role involves supporting jury management and court operations under the supervision of the Jury Manager and Court Executives. Salary & Benefits 💰
The salary range varies by schedule:
- Schedule A: $45,877.84 to $69,484.11
- Schedule B: $45,877.84 to $62,203.88
Generally, new hires start at the minimum of the range. Promotions include a 5% salary increase, with adjustments based on the specific schedule and current salary. Employees hired before August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule A, while those hired on or after are Schedule B.
Remote Work Opportunity 🏡
The Judiciary offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing up to 2 days of remote work per week outside Judiciary buildings. To participate, you must install a multifactor authentication app and have high-speed home internet access.
Example of Duties 🔍
- Provide bilingual customer service (English and Spanish) to jurors and court visitors
- Expedite case-related procedures and manage juror summonses (3,750 - 6,000 weekly)
- Handle a high volume of calls, emails, voicemails, faxes, mail, and online summonses
- Review court calendars and paperwork for accuracy
- Orient jurors and produce weekly payroll reports
- Track and reconcile juror fees and payments
- Analyze statistical reports on juror utilization and case data
- Identify data discrepancies and facilitate correction in automated systems
- Support jurors through excellent customer service and manage juror information updates
- Type and compile reports, notices, and correspondence
- Create statistical analyses for jury pools and upcoming trials
- Review case statuses, update information, and verify document authenticity
- Maintain logs and send legal notices as directed by judges
- Conduct annual reconciliation of juror fines
Regular work on-site is essential to fulfill this position's responsibilities.
Qualifications & Skills 📋
Experience
Minimum of one (1) year in an office environment performing clerical and support duties such as:
- Keyboarding, with a requirement of at least 25 words per minute
- Processing documents or information
- Handling payments and balancing accounts
- Scheduling meetings or appointments
Testing & Certifications
Applicants must pass a keyboarding skills exam or demonstrate proficiency via:
- Valid typing proficiency certification issued by the NJ Civil Service Commission or Judiciary
- Current Judiciary staff with permanent status in qualifying titles
Special testing applies for bilingual positions via the BICAT exam or proof of bilingual proficiency.
Additional Requirements & Notes 📝
- Valid driver’s license if vehicle operation is necessary
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (citizenship not required)
- Background check, including fingerprinting, for newly hired employees
- Residency in New Jersey within the first year of employment as per the “First Act” law
