Located in Bryn Mawr, PA (metropolitan Philadelphia), Barrack Hebrew Academy serves students in grades 6-12 from Philadelphia, its suburbs, Allentown, southern New Jersey, and Wilmington, Delaware. The school offers a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum integrated with Jewish and American values, guided by our four Derech Eretz values: Honor, Moral Courage, Kindness, and Community. Position: Jewish Studies Teacher
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and caring educator to join us as a full-time Jewish Studies teacher. The role begins in late August 2025 and involves inspiring students through engaging lessons and building an inclusive classroom environment. 🤝
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver student-centered Jewish Studies (including rabbinics, theology, ethics, culture, etc.) and Tanakh courses 📚
- Lead a Shaharit group Monday–Thursday mornings 🌅
- Serve as a student advisor, fostering growth and engagement
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curricula and infuse joy and passion into Jewish learning
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and collaborative efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with experience teaching middle and/or upper school students (grades 6–12); Master’s degree or rabbinic ordination preferred 🎓
- Strong collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for teaching middle and high school students
- Capability to differentiate instruction and develop curricula in partnership with colleagues
- Proficiency in teaching and reading Jewish sources in Hebrew
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and staff
- Kindness, patience, a good sense of humor, and a growth mindset 😊
- Experience with classroom technology including Google Suite, learning management systems, and email management
