Overview

Frankel Jewish Academy (FJA), located in West Bloomfield, Michigan, is seeking passionate Jewish Studies Teachers for the upcoming school year. This is a unique opportunity to teach a diverse, college-bound student body in a high school dedicated to Jewish textual study and college readiness.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a talented educator who:

  • Brings a vibrant, enthusiastic presence that sparks curiosity in teenagers 🚀
  • Has a strong commitment to Jewish practice and deep academic training in Jewish Studies
  • Possesses proficiency in Hebrew (textual and/or modern)
  • Holds a passion for Jewish and secular knowledge with a desire to improve pedagogical skills
  • Is familiar with current educational best practices and technology integration
  • Enthusiastically mentors high school students in a pluralistic, text-based environment

Essential Duties & Curriculum Areas

Faculty will teach core courses and develop electives, including:

  • Bible (Tanakh)
  • Rabbinics (Talmud/Halakha)
  • Jewish History
  • Electives such as Jewish Ethics, Philosophy, or specialization topics

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Studies, History, or related field
  • Previous high school teaching experience
  • Strong commitment to FJA’s mission and Jewish values
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Rabbinic Ordination) preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $40,000 - $75,000, based on experience
  • 7 PTO days plus school holidays and vacations
