Torden LLC Is Hiring A Japanese Interpreter

Torden LLC is seeking a part-time, on-call, qualified, and experienced Japanese Interpreter to support a key training exercise. The ideal candidate will be capable of providing consecutive interpretation for Japanese Defense Force sailors, with a preference for those with knowledge of military and naval terminology. Flexibility and dedication are essential to accommodate long hours and a dynamic training schedule.

Position Overview

As a Japanese Interpreter, you'll be critical in facilitating effective communication during realistic training scenarios. You must be adaptable to changing environments and capable of standing or sitting for extended periods as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation for military personnel in training exercises
• Support realistic scenario-based training activities
• Ensure accurate translation, transcription, and interpretation in real-time
• Participate actively in dynamic and possibly unpredictable situations

Requirements

• Pass an interpretation skills assessment test (Japanese to English and English to Japanese) with a minimum score of 3, based on ILR standards
• Proven ability to conduct precise translation, transcription, and interpretation
• Ability to interpret on-demand during meetings and informal conversations
• Strong typing and computer skills
• Extensive vocabulary and understanding of military and naval terminology
• Ability to commute reliably to Joint Base Pearl Harbor
• Quick thinking and professionalism in a team environment

Security Requirements

• Department of Defense security clearance is recommended
• Willingness to undergo a counterintelligence (CI) focused screening interview
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory
• Candidates with active security clearances and recent CI interviews will be prioritized
