Job Overview

Torden LLC is seeking a part-time, on-call professional Japanese Interpreter to assist during a rigorous training exercise involving the Japanese Defense Force. The ideal candidate will possess strong military and naval terminology knowledge and be capable of providing consecutive interpretation for participating sailors.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation between Japanese and English during training exercises
• Support realistic scenario training, which may involve long hours and physical endurance
• Adapt to a changing environment and schedule with flexibility
• Ensure accurate translation, transcription, and interpretation services on demand

Requirements

• Pass an interpretation skills assessment at a minimum ILR score of 3 for both Japanese to English and English to Japanese
• Proven ability to deliver precise translation and interpretation services
• Experience with military and naval terminology and vocabulary
• Strong typing and computer skills
• Willingness to work long days and stand or sit for extended periods
• Reliable commute to Joint Base Pearl Harbor
• Quick thinker with strong professionalism and team collaboration skills

Security & Citizenship Requirements 🔒

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory
• Department of Defense security clearance is recommended
• Must pass a counterintelligence (CI) screening interview
• Willing to undergo a comprehensive background investigation
• Applicants with active security clearances and recent CI interviews will be prioritized
