Job Title: Bilingual Translator & Interpreter
🔤 Facilitate seamless communication between English and Japanese speakers through translation, interpretation, and cultural adaptation.
🌟 Job Overview
The primary purpose of this role is to bridge language barriers by converting spoken or written content from one language to another, ensuring clarity and effective dialogue between parties who do not share a common language.
📝 Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend conferences and meetings: Act as the official translator to mediate discussions.
- Language relay: Convey concepts and ideas accurately between languages.
- Document translation: Convert written materials such as standards, emails, publications, or web pages into the target language.
- Content creation & editing: Reproduce original content with the same style and tone, and proofread translations for accuracy.
- Communication management: Handle translated communications for the Management Team and various departments, including Accounting, Production Control, Process Engineering, and Quality Assurance.
- Assignment handling: Receive and submit translation tasks electronically.
- Research tools: Use dictionaries, glossaries, and employ computer-assisted translation tools.
- Facilitate communication: Aid individuals with limited language proficiency and interpret both legal and colloquial language.
- Read aloud: Read documents aloud in languages other than the original.
- Visitor support: Accompany foreign visitors and facilitate exchanges between hosts and guests.
- Localization: Adapt products or services for use in different languages and cultural contexts.
- Maintain confidentiality: Protect sensitive information as required.
- Support leadership: Assist Japanese and American executives with translation and interpretation needs.
🎓 Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Japanese language or related field, or
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Language Skills
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business materials, technical documents, and regulations.
- Strong writing skills for reports, correspondence, and manuals.
- Excellent verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
- Ability to interpret and convey nuanced language, idioms, and colloquialisms.
Mathematical Skills
- Competence in basic arithmetic calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.
Reasoning & Problem-Solving
- Capable of solving practical problems with multiple variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions provided in diverse formats—written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled.
Additional Skills & Abilities
- Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Proficient with computer software, especially Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
