Essential Duties and Responsibilities 📋
- Design & Deliver: Engaging, standards-aligned lessons fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
- Classroom Environment: Create welcoming spaces where all students feel valued, challenged, and supported.
- Authentic Learning: Incorporate real-world applications and interdisciplinary connections.
- Culturally Responsive Strategies: Honor students’ identities, experiences, & perspectives.
- Assessment & Adjustment: Use formative & summative assessments to monitor progress and tailor instruction.
- Communication: Partner effectively with families & caregivers.
- Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing learning aligned with district priorities.
- Collaboration: Work with colleagues & support staff to improve instruction & outcomes.
- Records Management: Maintain accurate instructional & assessment documentation.
- Policy & Ethics: Uphold district policies and professional standards.
- Community Engagement: Contribute positively to school and district culture.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications ✅
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification appropriate to the assignment OR the ability to obtain emergency certification
- Commitment to equity-centered teaching & continuous improvement
- Strong skills in instructional planning, classroom management, & communication
Reporting & Support 📝
Teachers report directly to school administrators and receive support from curriculum and pupil services supervisors, as well as grade and content leaders. New teachers participate in district-specific induction programs to support their success regardless of experience level.
Terms of Employment 📅
- Position duration: 10 months
- Representation: West Chester Area Education Association
- Salary: Based on experience, education, and internal equity; typically below midpoint of the salary range
Application Process & Considerations 🎯
Applicants are encouraged to apply for multiple positions of interest. Once committed to a position for the upcoming school year, transferring to other district roles is generally not permitted. Teachers may return to their previous assignment before June 30, 2026, if the opportunity arises.
