Job Title: Italian Instructor

🗣️ SOSi is looking for a dedicated Italian Instructor to provide professional language instruction in Northern Virginia. You will be responsible for lesson planning, delivery, and assessing learners' progress, engaging with adult students through strong interpersonal and communication skills.

🔑 Essential Job Duties

• Deliver instruction to students with proficiency levels from 0 to 3 on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale, aiming to elevate their language skills.
• Manage the complete lesson cycle: development, planning, instruction, and student assessment.
• Create tailored lesson plans suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
• Facilitate classes centered around real-world scenarios—covering culture, history, politics, and economics—to improve speaking, listening, and reading skills in both social and professional contexts.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and collaborate with clients to support student success.
• Assess proficiency levels based on the ILR scale to track progress.
• Complete required training and obtain instructor certifications specific to client needs.

🎓 Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
• Successfully complete the process for a fully adjudicated TS/SCI (with polygraph) security clearance; SOSi sponsors qualified candidates.
• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Language, or related field.
• At least five years of recent experience in adult foreign language instruction, proficiency assessment, curriculum development, and integration of modern technology and cultural knowledge.
• Deep knowledge of Italian history, culture, politics, and economics.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, verified through a standardized exam.
• Native or near-native Italian proficiency (minimum ILR scores: SLR 5, TA 3), confirmed via language exams.
• Experience with language learning technology and innovative teaching methodologies.

🌟 Preferred Qualifications

• Active, in-scope TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Master’s degree in Education, Language, or related field.
• Overseas experience involving Italian language.
• Proficiency with multiple teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles.
• Subject matter expertise in fields such as International Relations, Economics, Legal/Law, Military, Literature, or Cross-cultural Studies is highly desirable.

🔧 Additional Information

Working Conditions

• Office environment in Northern Virginia.
• Full-time, onsite position; remote work is not available.
• Core hours generally from 9 am to 2 pm, as specified by the client.
