Position Overview

Salary & Compensation

💰 Salary Range:

  • Schedule A: $46,785.80 to $88,550.66
  • Schedule B: $46,785.80 to $79,272.75

For new hires, starting salary is typically at the minimum of the range. Existing employees promoted or advanced will receive a 5% increase of their base salary, not exceeding the maximum of their range.

Note: Employees hired before August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule A, while those hired afterward are Schedule B. The Judiciary offers excellent growth opportunities.

Travel & Work Environment

  • Travel within the tri-county vicinage is required.
  • The position may be reassigned to another county within the vicinage.
  • Work hours may include evenings and Saturdays.
  • Remote Work: Up to 2 days of remote work per week possible with high-speed internet and a multifactor authentication app.

Example of Responsibilities

🔹 Manage a caseload of child support and alimony cases, ensuring compliance with court orders and enforcement remedies.

🔹 Provide exceptional customer service—responding to concerns, informing about services, and resolving issues.

🔹 Schedule enforcement hearings and interpret financial data.

🔹 Collaborate with division staff and respond promptly to referrals and alerts.

🔹 Become proficient with systems such as NJKiDs, FACTS, JEDS, and eCourts.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Two years of paraprofessional experience involving casework, socioeconomic data collection, record examination, interviews, or investigative report preparation.
  • Substitution allowed: 30 college semester hours = 1 year of experience.
  • Open to current Judiciary employees holding the title of Investigator or Investigator Bilingual.
  • Must pass the BICAT Performance Examination or demonstrate bilingual proficiency if applicable.

Additional Conditions

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license if vehicle operation is necessary.
  • Work authorization in the U.S.—citizenship not required.
  • Background check, including fingerprinting, is mandatory for new hires.
  • Must establish and maintain principal residence in New Jersey within one year of hire, unless exempted due to hardship or employer need.

The Judiciary of New Jersey encompasses the Supreme Court, Superior Court (including Appellate and Trial Divisions), Tax Court, and Municipal Courts. The Administrative Office supports operations, training, research, budgeting, and information systems across all courts.
